Benjamin Chong

Benjamin has a track record of investing in and building successful Internet-related businesses over the last twenty years. These include Online Agility, an incubator and developer of online businesses, Jetabroad, one of Australia’s leading online travel companies, and Online Marketing Group. Benjamin has served on the boards of a number of portfolio companies.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales with First Class Honours, Benjamin began his career consulting in the areas of ecommerce strategy, online marketing, and technology for major international clients such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Volvo, Sony, and Toyota. Benjamin was named National Young Business Person of the Year by Young Achievement Australia and is a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation and the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCAL).

Benjamin is director of the Founder Institute in Sydney.


Ari Klinger

Ari has extensive experience in starting, building and selling technology-related businesses. He was the co-founder and CEO of iMega, an online media network with over 30 million visitors a month which he sold to a publicly-listed marketing services group in 2006.

In 2008 he co-founded and served as CEO of Online Marketing Group (OMG), which quickly grew to become Australia’s largest website network. Ari managed the sale of the business to Fairfax Media and in 2013 Ari co-founded which quickly to grew to over 6 million members and was acquired by a NADAQ listed company in 2015. Ari is a non-executive director at Hipages Group and is the Chair of Mwave Australia. Ari has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales, is a longstanding member of the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCAL) and is a mentor at the Founder Institute.


Garry Visontay

Garry is an Australian entrepreneur and investor with over 30 years of local and international business experience. He has started five businesses in a variety of industries and has international corporate experience as an IT Director with Procter and Gamble across Asia Pacific.

Garry serves on a number of private boards and provides advisory and mentorship to many Australian startup teams. He serves as a mentor at UNSW Student Entrepreneurs, H2 Ventures Fintech Accelerator, Sydney University’s Incubate Accelerator Programme and is a Global 100 Top rated mentor for the Founder Institute. He’s a member of Innovation Bay and also part of the Expert Network for the Australian Government’s Accelerating Commercialisation programme. Garry has also been a guest speaker at numerous co-working spaces on “Start-up Funding” and served as a judge at numerous start-up pitching events.

Garry has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) from the University of Technology, Sydney.




Adrian Ahern

Adrian Ahern is a former Global and Australian chairman of law firm Norton Rose Fulbright. Adrian specialised in mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, infrastructure development and buy/sell, and foreign investment law and regulation.

He has a significant track record in each of the financial services and infrastructure sectors having advised many of Australia’s leading companies and international investors in those sectors. Adrian is continually ranked as one of Australia’s leading corporate and commercial and mergers and acquisitions lawyers, in particular in financial services. Adrian was a student in Japan in the mid-1970s and worked on secondment in Tokyo with a major Japanese investment organisation in the mid-1980s.

Adrian is based in Sydney.


Ray King

Ray King is Managing Director of Sovereign Investment Research, a specialist alternatives investment advisory firm, which he founded in 2000.

Ray has worked in the superannuation and investments industry for more than 20 years. He joined Towers Perrin in 1990 as an Asset Consulting Manager. In 1994 he joined Gary Weaven to set up Industry Fund Services (IFS), where he was responsible for the development of its asset consulting, funds management and advisory businesses, and was the lead adviser to many large industry superannuation funds. Ray was also a Partner of Mercer heading their Global Alternatives Boutique in APAC from 2012 to 2015. Ray was the founding Chairperson of the Australian Chapter of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) in 2000. Ray is a graduate of Monash University with an Honours Degree in Economics.

Ray is based in Melbourne.


Jeffrey Paine

Jeffrey Paine is a Partner of Golden Gate Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund based in Singapore. Jeff is also the co-founder of Battle Ventures, a technology studio/incubator based in Singapore with a portfolio across Asia. He started and manages the Founder Institute in Asia where he is currently overseeing its expansion in the region. Since 2010, the Founder Institute has graduated over 40 companies in Asia.

Jeff spent the first eight years of his career in early-stage venture and private equity in the US, North and South Asia. He co-founded a China market entry advisory firm, which was then merged with a China mid-market private equity firm and subsequently co-founded Generation Origin, a venture advisory firm based in Palo Alto (advised by the legendary Pitch Johnson).

Jeff is based in Singapore.


Adeo Ressi

Adeo Ressi is CEO of the Founder Institute, an idea-stage incubator for aspiring entrepreneurs with chapters in over 100 cities worldwide.

Adeo is the Founding Member of, an online community of 12,000 CEOs to research, rate, and review funding sources worldwide. The Institute is the eighth start-up that Adeo has founded or built, four of which were acquired and three of which are still operating. He has also served on the Board of the X PRIZE foundation, a non-profit chartered to inspire human achievements through competition.

Adeo is based in Silicon Valley.


David Siemer

David Siemer is the Managing Director of Siemer & Associates, a boutique merchant bank that works with technology, software and digital media companies throughout their complete life cycles. In addition to investment banking, he concurrently founded Wavemaker Partners to assist early growth technology companies to achieve their full potential. One of the most active investment firms in Southern California, Siemer Ventures claims more than 40 current portfolio companies and makes about 12 new investments per year.

David was previously with Montgomery & Co. where he served as a key member of the Digital Media Investment Banking Group. In this capacity, he led sales to major media companies such as News Corp, Google, Sony, Yahoo!, Hearst, Viacom, WPP and Disney, as well as managing equity private placements from multiple venture capital firms and hedge funds.

David is based in Los Angeles.
